  • ½ Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • A Pinch Nutmeg (optional)
  • A Pinch Salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Milk (dairy or plant-based) Can substitute with almond, soy, or oat milk.
  • 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil Melted butter can be used for a richer flavor.
  • ¼ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ cup Apple, finely diced Other fruits like pears or berries can also work well.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools including a fork or whisk, and a microwave-safe mug (12-14 ounces).

Mixing The Dry Ingredients

  • In your chosen mug, add the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and a pinch of salt.
  • Mix these dry ingredients thoroughly using a fork or small whisk.

Adding The Wet Ingredients

  • Pour the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract into the mug on top of the dry ingredients.
  • Stir gently until just combined. Small lumps are okay.

Incorporating The Apples

  • Fold in the finely diced apple pieces gently to ensure they are evenly distributed.

Cooking The Mug Cake

  • Place the mug in the center of the microwave and cook on high for 90 seconds to 2 minutes.
  • Check at 90 seconds for doneness; the top should look dry and spring back when touched.

Serving

  • Let the mug cake rest for a minute, then enjoy directly from the mug or invert onto a plate.
  • Top with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of caramel if desired.

Notes
