  • 225 grams whipped topping, defrosted Ensure it is fully defrosted
  • 120 millilitres sour cream May substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter option

For the fruits and mix-ins

  • 310 grams mandarin oranges, drained
  • 565 grams crushed pineapple, drained
  • 280 grams maraschino cherries, drained
  • 80 grams sweetened coconut flakes Use sweetened for best flavor
  • 120 grams mini marshmallows For added sweetness
  • 90 grams pecans, chopped or whole For a crunch; can omit for nut allergies

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients ensuring the whipped topping is completely defrosted.
  • Drain all fruits thoroughly to avoid excess liquid in the salad.

Making the Base

  • In a large bowl, fold the sour cream into the defrosted whipped topping and stir gently until fully blended.

Adding Mix-ins

  • Introduce the pecans to the mixture, chopping if desired.
  • Carefully add the mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, and maraschino cherries into the bowl.
  • Mix in the sweetened coconut flakes.
  • Fold in the mini marshmallows for added fluffiness.

Final Mixing

  • Gently stir all the ingredients together until uniformly coated, being careful not to break the fruits.

Chilling

  • Cover tightly with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Serving

  • After chilling, give the salad a gentle stir and serve in individual bowls or family style.

Notes

Tastes best after chilling, and can be made a day in advance. Keeps in the fridge for up to 3 days.
