  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Gluten-free blend can be used instead.
  • ½ cup melted butter Can substitute with vegan butter or coconut oil.
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar For a richer sweetness.
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt Enhances overall flavor.
  • 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice Prevents browning of the apples.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice your apples, ensuring you remove any seeds.

Mixing the Base

  • In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and lemon juice. Set aside.

Making the Topping

  • In another bowl, combine all-purpose flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until crumbly.

Layering

  • Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish. Layer the apple mixture evenly on the bottom.

Adding Topping

  • Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples, covering them entirely.

Baking

  • Place the casserole in the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 45-50 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow to cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving. Best enjoyed warm.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 20-30 minutes.
