Preparation

  • Start by ensuring your kitchen is clean and organized. Gather all your ingredients and tools—mixing bowls, measuring cups, a whisk, and a spatula.
  • Set your oven to preheat at 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, melt your 1 cup of unsalted butter. Allow to cool slightly.
  • Add 2 cups of brown sugar to the melted butter and stir until well combined until smooth and glossy.
  • Mix in 2 large eggs and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract until blended.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in 1 cup of diced tart apples and 1 cup of chopped pecans to ensure even distribution.

Baking

  • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
