  • 6 large eggs Use room temperature for best results.
  • 1 cup diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) For a nice balance of tart and sweet.
  • ½ cup sugar Adjust if using sweeter apples.
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon Adjust based on taste.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup maple syrup Pure maple syrup is suggested for the best flavor.

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until fully combined.
  • Add the cubed bread and diced apples to the liquid mixture and gently fold together.
  • Prepare a greased baking dish and pour the mixture in.
  • Drizzle the maple syrup over the top.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the casserole in, baking for 45-50 minutes.
  • Once done, let the casserole cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Consider adding a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top just before serving. For added flavor, sauté diced apples in butter beforehand.
