Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring full incorporation before adding the next.

Mixing

  • In another bowl, mix oats, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
  • Gently fold in the chopped dates and diced apples.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Cool the cake in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  • Before serving, drizzle warm toffee sauce over the cake.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil for up to three months.
