Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Dice the onions and garlic, and peel and chop the apples.

Cooking

  • In a large pot, brown the ground turkey over medium heat for about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the turkey is browned, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are soft and fragrant, approximately 3–4 minutes.
  • Stir in the peeled and diced apples, cooking for about 2 minutes to soften them.
  • Add the drained kidney beans and canned diced tomatoes to the pot and mix to combine.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, stirring to combine all ingredients.
  • Stir in the fresh sage, cumin, salt, and pepper. Adjust the seasonings to your preference.
  • Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.
  • Taste the chili again and adjust salt, pepper, or spices as desired.

Serving

  • Ladle the hot Apple Sage Turkey Chili into bowls, and top with cheese, sour cream, or fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

This chili can be prepared in advance and is great for leftovers. Ideal for potlucks or cozy family dinners.
