Preparation

  • Start by gathering and measuring all your ingredients.
  • Chop the asparagus into bite-sized pieces and mince your garlic.

Cooking Pasta

  • In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.
  • Add your pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (about 8–10 minutes).
  • Drain the pasta and reserve about a cup of the pasta water.

Sautéing

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the bite-sized asparagus pieces to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender.

Combining Ingredients

  • Stir in the drained pasta along with the lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • If the mix seems dry, add a splash of reserved pasta water.

Final Touches

  • Remove the skillet from heat, then stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if desired.

Notes
