  • 1 cup warm water Adjust slightly based on humidity.

Topping

  • Cinnamon sugar for dusting Mix sugar and cinnamon to taste.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and measure them out in advance.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Gradually add warm water while mixing until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
  • Divide the dough into approximately ten small golf ball-sized pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a thin disk, about 1/8 inch thick.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C) for optimal frying.
  • Fry the dough disks in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Remove buñuelos with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Dust with cinnamon sugar immediately after draining.

Notes

Buñuelos are versatile; enjoy them plain or topped with chocolate or caramel. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer preservation.
