  • 1 can water chestnuts, drained Ensure they are well-drained before wrapping
  • ½ cup brown sugar Adjust for sweetness preference
  • ¼ cup soy sauce Use gluten-free if needed
  • to taste toothpicks For securing the bacon around the water chestnuts

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Cut each strip of bacon in half.
  • Wrap each drained water chestnut with a half strip of bacon and secure with a toothpick.

Make the Glaze

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar and soy sauce and stir until well combined.

Cooking

  • Dip each wrapped water chestnut into the brown sugar mixture to ensure it is well-coated.
  • Place the glazed bacon-wrapped water chestnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized.

Serving

  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before serving warm.
  • Optional: Serve with a spicy dipping sauce or sweet chili sauce.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Can also be frozen; thaw in the fridge before reheating.
