  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs Should be at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Or gluten-free alternative
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup Baileys Irish Cream Can substitute with a non-dairy alternative

Buttercream Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the table. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan for the brownies.

Make the Brownie Base

  • In a large bowl, melt the unsalted butter until fully liquefied.
  • Stir in granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
  • Add eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.

Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.

Add Baileys

  • Pour in the Baileys Irish Cream and gently stir it into the batter until well mixed.

Bake

  • Transfer the brownie batter into your prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.

Make the Buttercream

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar and Baileys, mixing until smooth and fluffy.

Frost the Brownies

  • Spread the Baileys buttercream over the cooled brownies using a spatula.
  • Cut into squares for serving.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, sift cocoa powder before adding. Adding a pinch of espresso powder can enhance the chocolate flavor.
