  • 1 cup vanilla custard Can use store-bought or homemade
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup crushed nuts (such as walnuts or pistachios) Use your favorite nuts

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients, ensuring your butter is melted and your nuts are crushed.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Baking

  • Layer the phyllo pastry sheets on a baking tray, brushing each layer generously with melted butter.
  • Cut the layers into squares and bake for 8-10 minutes, until golden and flaky.
  • Allow the phyllo squares to cool on the baking tray to prevent melting the custard.

Assembly

  • Spread a layer of custard on one phyllo square and sandwich with another square.
  • Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with crushed nuts.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve.

Notes

For a nut-free version, consider using seeds like sunflower or pumpkin seeds. Can also be made vegan using plant-based butter and custard.
