Equipment

  • Grill
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Basting Brush
  • Tongs
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lbs pork ribs baby back or spare ribs
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce for basting

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill for indirect heat cooking to ensure even, slow cooking.
  • In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
  • Coat the ribs thoroughly with the marinade, ensuring even coverage.
  • Marinate the ribs for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for deeper flavor.
  • Place the marinated ribs on the grill away from direct heat and cook slowly for 2–3 hours.
  • Every 30 minutes, baste the ribs with barbecue sauce for a rich glaze and extra flavor.
  • When the ribs are tender and pull away easily from the bone, remove them from the grill.
  • Let the ribs rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing to retain moisture.
  • Slice between the bones, serve with extra barbecue sauce, and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra smoky flavor, use wood chips on the grill. You can also bake these ribs at 300°F (150°C) for 2.5 hours if you don’t have a grill. To make it spicier, add a dash of cayenne or chipotle powder to the marinade. Perfect with coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread!
