  • 8 oz egg noodles Can substitute with rice noodles or whole wheat options.
  • 8 oz beef, thinly sliced Opt for chicken or tofu as substitutes.
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (bell peppers, carrots, broccoli) Customize with any vegetables available.

Sauces

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free option.
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Aromatics

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Can use any neutral cooking oil.

Preparation

  • Gather and prepare all your ingredients. Slice the beef thinly against the grain, mince the garlic and ginger finely, and chop the mixed vegetables into bite-sized pieces.

Cooking the Noodles

  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the egg noodles. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Stir-Frying

  • In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger, sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef and cook undisturbed for a couple of minutes until browned. Stir occasionally.
  • Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until vibrant and crisp-tender.
  • Add the cooked egg noodles along with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together gently.
  • Continue tossing for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Notes

Beef Lo Mein is best served hot. If desired, add a splash of rice vinegar or chili oil just before serving for extra flavor.
