  • 2 pounds beef tips, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 unit onion, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth Can substitute with vegetable broth for a lighter flavor.
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced Add more if desired.
  • 3 tablespoons flour For gluten-free, use cornstarch.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste teaspoon salt
  • to taste teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Chop the onion and slice the mushrooms.

Cooking the Base

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the beef tips and cook until browned on all sides.

Sautéing Vegetables

  • Once the beef is browned, remove from the skillet. Add the onions and mushrooms, sauté until soft (about 5 minutes).

Making the Gravy

  • Sprinkle flour over the sautéed vegetables, stirring well to combine.
  • Slowly pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until smooth.

Combining Ingredients

  • Return the beef tips to the skillet and coat with gravy.

Seasoning and Simmering

  • Season with salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes on low heat.

Serving

  • After 30 minutes, taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.

Notes

To store leftovers, let cool, then refrigerate in an airtight container for 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months. Reheat gently, adding broth if necessary.
