Ingredients

Chicken and Marinade

  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 cup Buffalo sauce (plus extra for drizzling) Use BBQ sauce or teriyaki sauce as a milder alternative.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Can substitute with avocado or canola oil.

Vegetables

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

Cheesesteak Assembly

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Alternate options include cheddar, pepper jack, or provolone.
  • 4 hoagie rolls Use crusty long rolls for authenticity.
  • 0.25 cup ranch or blue cheese dressing (optional, for drizzling)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients in one spot to make the cooking process smoother.
  • Slice the chicken, onion, and bell pepper beforehand to save time.

Marination

  • Combine the thinly sliced chicken with the Buffalo sauce in a bowl, ensuring even coating. Marinate for at least 10 minutes, or longer for deeper flavor.

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper, cooking for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  • Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet. Spread the marinated chicken in a single layer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly crispy around the edges. Season with salt and pepper.

Broiling and Assembly

  • Preheat your oven to broil.
  • Slice the hoagie rolls open and place on a baking sheet. Divide the cooked chicken evenly among the rolls, topping with the cooked onions and peppers.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top.
  • Broil for 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly, keeping an eye to avoid burning.
  • Drizzle with extra Buffalo sauce and optional ranch or blue cheese dressing. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Serving

  • Serve the cheesesteaks hot and enjoy the rich flavors!
