Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Trim the ends of the green beans.
  • Heat salted water in a large pot until boiling.
  • Boil the trimmed green beans for about 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  • Drain the beans in a colander.

Cooking

  • In a skillet, melt unsalted butter over medium heat until it bubbles and foams.
  • Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma.
  • Add the sliced almonds to the skillet and toast for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Add the drained green beans to the skillet and toss to coat.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add optional lemon zest and toss again.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave.
