Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Prep your apples by peeling and slicing them evenly.

Cooking the Base

  • In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes, stirring continuously.

Mixing the Filling

  • In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sour cream, white sugar, brown sugar, baked brown butter, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well until apples are coated.

Assembling the Pie

  • Place the pie crust in a pie dish and pour the apple mixture into the crust, distributing evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes to set the crust.
  • Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for another 30-40 minutes until apples are tender.

Cooling and Serving

  • Remove the pie from oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • For an extra treat, serve slices with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Store in the fridge for 4-5 days or freeze for up to three months. Let cool completely before cutting to set filling.
