Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter for that rich flavor
  • 1 cup brown sugar adds sweetness and moisture
  • ½ cup granulated sugar lightens up the texture
  • 2 large eggs for structure
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract adds warmth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour the base
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder for leavening
  • ¼ teaspoon salt enhances flavor
  • 1 cup toffee bits the star ingredient
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional, for added crunch

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients to make the process smoother.
  • In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma, stirring occasionally.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until well incorporated.
  • Slowly pour in the browned butter, stirring until fully incorporated.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the toffee bits and chopped nuts, if using.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Transfer to your preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cooling

  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan before cutting into bars and serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze. Allow to come to room temperature before serving.
