  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Dice the tomatoes and chop the fresh basil.

  • Place the slices of Italian bread on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crisp.
  • In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  • Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed.
  • Once the bread is toasted, scoop the tomato mixture onto each piece.

If you have leftover bruschetta, store the topping separately from the bread to maintain crispness. The tomato mixture can last for about 2-3 days in the refrigerator. For the best flavor, prepare toppings just before serving.
