Preparation

  • Begin by prepping all your ingredients. Dice the onion and bell pepper, mince the garlic, and gather the remaining ingredients.

Cooking the Base

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onions and bell peppers, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and continue cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.

Browning the Chicken

  • Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it into small pieces. Cook until browned and no longer pink in the center, approximately 7-10 minutes.

Adding Sauces and Seasonings

  • Stir in the tomato sauce, Cajun seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the mixture to simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.

Preparing the Cheese Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add flour and stir for about one minute to create a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.

Toasting the Buns

  • Toast the brioche buns in a toaster or skillet until golden.

Assembling the Sloppy Joes
