  • 0.25 teaspoons salt

Frosting and Decorations

  • 1 batch frosting of your choice Cream cheese frosting, buttercream, or whipped cream recommended.

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Measure out the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and the rest of the ingredients so everything is ready to go. Ensure your oven is preheated to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare your cake pans by greasing them with butter or spray oil, then dust them with flour.

Mixing and Baking

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add in the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  • Carefully pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  • Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting and Serving

  • Once the cakes are completely cool, apply your chosen frosting between the layers and on top. Decorate with heart sprinkles or fresh berries.
