Caprese Crostini Ghosts

Caprese Crostini Ghosts are a spooky Halloween twist on the classic caprese appetizer. Crispy baguette slices topped with pesto, fresh tomatoes, and ghost-shaped mozzarella, finished with balsamic glaze faces for a festive and delicious bite.

Ingredients
  

Base

  • 1 fresh baguette sliced diagonally into 1/2-inch slices
  • extra-virgin olive oil for drizzling

Toppings

  • 16 oz fresh whole-milk mozzarella sliced and cut into ghost shapes
  • 12 oz Campari tomatoes thinly sliced
  • ½ cup pesto
  • 1 tsp balsamic glaze for ghost faces and drizzling

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice baguette into 1/2-inch diagonal slices and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle lightly with olive oil.
  • Bake for 8–9 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Let cool slightly.
  • Meanwhile, freeze mozzarella for 10 minutes to firm up, then slice into planks and cut out ghost shapes using a cookie cutter.
  • Spread a teaspoon of pesto on each crostini, then layer with a tomato slice and a ghost-shaped mozzarella piece.
  • Dip a skewer or toothpick in balsamic glaze and carefully draw ghost faces on mozzarella.
  • Arrange crostini on a platter and drizzle with extra balsamic glaze before serving.

Notes

Best served fresh, but crostini bases can be prepared ahead of time and stored in an airtight container. Assemble just before serving for best texture.
