  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk Substitute with almond milk for dairy-free.
  • 1 large egg Substitute with a flaxseed egg for vegan option.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Use plant-based butter for dairy-free option.
  • 1 package puff pastry Can use store-bought for convenience.

Apple Filling

  • 2 apples, peeled and diced You can substitute with pears or peaches.
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a medium bowl, combine the peeled and diced apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Stir well and set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to mix.
  • Add the milk, egg, and melted butter to the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.

Assembly

  • Unroll puff pastry onto a floured surface and roll it out gently.
  • Cut the puff pastry into 4-5 inch squares.
  • Spoon a generous amount of the apple mixture onto each square and fold corners over to create a pocket, crimp edges with a fork.

Baking

  • Place sealed pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store baked pastries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
