  • Gather all your ingredients to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Measure out 1 cup of heavy cream, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Whipping the Cream

  • In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream on medium speed until it begins to thicken, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the thickened cream.
  • Continue to whip on medium to high speed until soft peaks form, usually another 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Increase the speed to high and whip until stiff peaks form.

Finalizing the Frosting

  • Be careful not to over-whip the cream; stop when you see stiff peaks.
  • Taste the frosting; add more powdered sugar if desired.
  • Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or pastries.

Notes

For best flavor and texture, use fresh and cold ingredients. Can store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
