Ingredients
  

Cheddar Herb Soda Bread

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 ¼ cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter melted, for brushing

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet or lightly grease a skillet.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, sugar, and baking soda.
  • Stir in shredded cheddar cheese and chopped herbs.
  • Add buttermilk and gently mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Turn dough onto a floured surface, shape into a round loaf, and place on baking sheet.
  • Score an X on top and brush with melted butter.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

This bread is best enjoyed warm. Store leftovers wrapped at room temperature for up to 2 days.
