Main Ingredients

  • 450 g breakfast sausage – crumbled
  • 8 large eggs
  • 240 ml milk – whole or 2%
  • 120 ml heavy cream – for extra richness (optional) Optional ingredient for added creaminess.
  • 200 g shredded cheddar cheese – divided Reserve half for topping.
  • 100 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 450 g refrigerated biscuit dough – cut into quarters Ensure it's cut into uniform pieces.
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or chives – chopped For garnish.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and crumble the breakfast sausage.
  • Preheat your oven to 175°C.

Cooking the Base

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled sausage until browned and thoroughly cooked, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Assembling the Dish

  • Grease a 23×33 cm baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Cut the refrigerated biscuit dough into quarters and arrange the pieces evenly across the base of the greased baking dish.
  • Distribute the cooked sausage over the biscuit layer.

Preparing the Egg Mixture

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Final Assembly and Baking

  • Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and biscuit layers.
  • Scatter 150g of cheddar cheese and all the mozzarella cheese on top, reserving the remaining cheddar for later.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil, sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese on top, and bake for another 15–20 minutes until the top is golden brown and eggs are set.

Serving

  • Allow the dish to rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing into squares.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives and serve warm.

Notes

This dish can be easily customized with different spices, vegetables, or types of cheese. Serve with fresh fruits, coffee or tea, and a light green salad.
