Mushroom Caps

  • 12 large large mushrooms Choose fresh and firm mushrooms.

Cheese Filling

  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Can be substituted with finely chopped onion for a milder flavor.
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped For fresh flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Always taste the mixture before baking.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Clean the mushrooms gently with a damp cloth and twist off the stems.

Filling Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, Parmesan, and mozzarella until smooth.
  • Stir in minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper.
  • Fold in finely chopped mushroom stems.

Stuffing the Mushrooms

  • Generously stuff each mushroom cap with the cheese mixture.
  • Arrange stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top of each mushroom.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Serving

  • Garnish with extra parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use vegan cream cheese and nutritional yeast. You can also add cooked sausage or bacon bits to the filling for extra flavor.
