Ingredients
  

For the Filling

  • 1 cup cherries, pitted and halved Fresh or frozen cherries can be used.
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened Lactose-free or dairy-free alternatives can be used.
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Pies

  • 1 package pie crusts (2 crusts) Store-bought or homemade, gluten-free options are available.
  • 1 egg beaten For egg wash.
  • 1 tbsp milk For egg wash.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients, washing and pitting the cherries.

Making the Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries, cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.

Rolling Out Crusts

  • Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into 3-4 inch circles.

Assembling the Hand Pies

  • Place a spoonful of filling on one half of each dough circle. Fold and seal with a fork.

Baking

  • Brush the tops with egg wash, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.

Notes

These hand pies can be made ahead and frozen. Serve with vanilla ice cream for a delightful pairing.
