Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole grain oats Can substitute with certified gluten-free oats.
  • 2 medium apples, diced Any variety works, but tart apples are recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup Maple syrup makes this recipe vegan.
  • ¼ cup almond or peanut butter Can be substituted with sunflower seed butter for nut-free.
  • ¼ cup raisins or nuts (optional) Add your favorite nuts for extra crunch.
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and equipment. Dice the apples finely.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine whole grain oats, diced apples, cinnamon, salt, and optional raisins or nuts.

Create Wet Mixture

  • In another bowl, mix together honey or maple syrup, almond or peanut butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures

  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until fully coated.

Prepare the Baking Pan

  • Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking pan and press down firmly to compact.

Bake the Bars

  • Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are golden brown.

Cool and Slice

  • Once baked, allow to cool completely at room temperature before slicing.

Notes
