Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced thinly
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce can substitute with tamari for gluten-free option
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce can substitute with hoisin sauce or leave out for vegetarian option
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for marinating beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for sautéing
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • ¼ cup beef broth can substitute with vegetable broth for a vegetarian option

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Slice the beef sirloin thinly against the grain for tenderness, and chop the broccoli into florets. Don’t forget to mince the garlic and ginger.

Marinating

  • In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to ensure all pieces are coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  • Place a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil and allow it to heat up.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Add the marinated beef to the pan and stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes, until the beef is browned.
  • Once the beef is browned, toss in the broccoli florets and stir well.
  • Pour in the beef broth and quickly stir everything together.
  • Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the beef and broccoli to meld together.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

Best served over steamed rice or cooked noodles. For extra flavor, add sesame oil or sprinkle sesame seeds before serving.
