Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup maraschino cherries drained and chopped

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped cherries until evenly distributed.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Centers should remain soft.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a festive look, press a few extra cherry pieces or chocolate chips on top of each cookie before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
