Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free blend.
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs For vegan, substitute with flax eggs.
  • 1 cup whole milk Can substitute with plant-based milk.
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil Can substitute with any plant-based oil.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Optional for extra chocolate flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour cake pans or line a baking dish with parchment paper.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, combine cocoa powder, sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until blended.
  • Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly.
  • Stir in boiling water to activate baking soda.
  • Fold in the optional chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into prepared pans and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes for cakes or 20-25 minutes for brownies, until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cooling and Serving

  • Let cool in pans for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Slice and serve warm, optionally topped with whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes

Store in an airtight container; lasts about a week in the fridge. Can freeze for up to 3 months.
