Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • ½ cup chocolate chips for filling

Instructions
 

  • Gather all ingredients and prepare your workspace.
  • In a small bowl, mix warm water with yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  • Pour the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Divide dough into small pieces, flatten each, and add chocolate chips to the center. Seal and shape into buns.
  • Place buns in a steamer basket, let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Steam buns for 15 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a cup of tea or hot chocolate!

Notes

For an extra twist, add chopped nuts, matcha powder, or a sprinkle of cinnamon. These buns can also be made vegan with dairy-free chocolate chips and gluten-free flour.
