Ingredients
  

For the crust

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour Substitute with gluten-free flour for gluten-free option.
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened Use coconut oil for vegan option.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt Control salt content by using unsalted butter.
  • 1 large egg yolk For vegan option, substitute with a flax egg.

For the filling

  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with coconut cream or cashew cream.
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped Use dairy-free chocolate for a vegan version.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the counter and measure them out.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Make the Crust

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the softened butter and the egg yolk to the dry mixture and combine until crumbly.
  • Press the dough into the bottom and sides of your tart pan, then prick the bottom lightly with a fork.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes. Let it cool completely.

Make the Filling

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream and sugar and heat until simmering.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the chopped dark chocolate and vanilla extract until melted and smooth.

Assemble the Tart

  • Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled tart crust and spread evenly.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set the filling.

Serve

  • Once set, slice the tart and serve chilled, optionally garnished with whipped cream or fresh berries.

Notes

Store leftover tart in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. Ideal for birthday parties, holidays, or casual get-togethers.
