Ingredients
  

Pie Filling

  • 2 cups apples peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup flour for thickening
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter cut into small pieces

Pie Crust

  • 1 pie crust homemade or store-bought

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, cranberries, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix until evenly coated.
  • Place the pie crust into a pie dish and pour in the apple-cranberry mixture.
  • Dot the top with small pieces of butter for added richness.
  • Cover with a top crust, sealing and crimping the edges. Cut small slits in the top for steam to escape.
  • Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
  • Cool the pie before slicing to allow the filling to set.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For a vegan or gluten-free option, use dairy-free butter and a compatible crust. The pie can be made a day ahead and reheated before serving. Freezes well for up to 2 months.
