For the crust

  • 1 pre-made pie crust pre-made pie crust Can substitute with gluten-free crust.
  • 1 egg beaten egg for egg wash For a shiny finish; can substitute with plant-based milk.

Preparation

  • Begin by prepping your ingredients. Peel and slice your apples, keeping them uniform for even cooking.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss everything together gently.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pre-made pie crust into a circle about 12 inches in diameter.
  • Transfer the rolled-out crust to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the apple mixture in the center of the crust.
  • Gently fold the edges of the crust over the apples, creating a border.
  • Using a brush, apply the beaten egg over the exposed crust.
  • Place the galette in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

  • Once out of the oven, allow your galette to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze it for up to three months.
