Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on a clean countertop. Wash the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves gently under cool running water.
  • Carefully slice the fresh mozzarella into even rounds, about half an inch thick.
  • Cut each cherry tomato in half to make them more bite-sized.

Assembly

  • On a serving platter, lay out the sliced mozzarella in an overlapping pattern.
  • Nestle the halved cherry tomatoes on top of the mozzarella slices, alternating their placement.
  • Tuck fresh basil leaves in between the layers of mozzarella and tomatoes.
  • Generously drizzle balsamic glaze over the arranged salad.
  • Sprinkle the salad with salt and freshly cracked pepper.
  • Serve the Christmas Caprese Salad right away.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for a day. Avoid reheating or freezing.
