Ingredients
  

For the toffee

  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter Can substitute with coconut oil or vegan butter for a dairy-free version.
  • 12 oz Chocolate Chips Any type of chocolate can be used based on preference.

For the base

  • 1 package Saltine Crackers Enough to cover the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan.

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients and tools: a saucepan, a mixing spoon, a 9x13 inch baking pan, and some foil.
  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line your baking pan with foil.

Making the Toffee

  • Arrange a single layer of saltine crackers in the bottom of the lined pan.
  • In a saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar. Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat while stirring constantly for about 3 minutes.
  • Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.

Baking

  • Bake the pan in the preheated oven for 7 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a few minutes to melt.
  • Using a spatula, spread the melted chocolate evenly over the surface.

Finishing Touches

  • Sprinkle desired toppings, such as crushed nuts or sprinkles, over the melted chocolate.
  • Refrigerate the pan until the chocolate hardens, about 1 hour.
  • Lift the foil to remove the toffee, then break it into pieces.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or refrigerated for up to 2 weeks. Can be frozen for long-term storage.
