  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts) Can be replaced with almonds, hazelnuts, or peanuts.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use dairy-free chocolate chips for a vegan version.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and measure them out.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cooking the Base

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine unsalted butter and brown sugar. Stir constantly until it comes to a gentle boil, keep stirring for 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour the bubbling mixture over the lined baking sheet and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Sprinkle chopped nuts over the caramel layer while it's still hot, gently pressing them down.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

Finishing Touches

  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel and nuts, letting them melt for a few minutes.
  • Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the top.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow the candy to cool completely at room temperature.
  • Once cooled, break the candy into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For best results, avoid overcooking the caramel and always use parchment paper.
