Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to set yourself up for success. Pre-measure your flour, sugar, butter, and other components to have everything at hand.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a cupcake pan with your favorite liners.

Mixing and Baking

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract until incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, mixing just until combined.
  • Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full with batter.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cooling and Frosting

  • Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the pan for a few minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.

Notes

Store cupcakes in an airtight container for 3-5 days in the refrigerator. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months. Allow frozen cupcakes to thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
