Preparation

  • Start by gathering all the ingredients. Ensure you have everything ready to make the process smooth and enjoyable.
  • Begin by preheating your steamer or a large pot filled with water.

Combining Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine the raisins, sultanas, currants, and chopped mixed peel.
  • Add the brown sugar, breadcrumbs, plain flour, mixed spice, and baking powder to the fruit mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in the milk and brandy.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until everything is nicely combined.

Cooking

  • Transfer the mixture to a greased pudding basin, filling it evenly.
  • Cover the top of the basin securely with parchment paper and then with foil.
  • Place the covered pudding basin in the steamer or pot and steam for approximately 6 hours.

Cooling and Storing

  • Once adequately steamed, let the pudding cool off completely.
  • Store it in a cool, dark place until ready to serve.
