  • 1 package flaky pastry
  • 1 cup cream cheese Softened
  • ½ cup chopped nuts Such as walnuts or pecans
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder Or fresh herbs for variation

  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 piece egg For egg wash

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients, ensuring spinach and nuts are finely chopped for even distribution.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, chopped nuts, spinach, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  • Flour your work surface and roll out the flaky pastry to a uniform thickness.
  • Cut the rolled pastry into 3-4 inch squares with a sharp knife.
  • Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each square, avoiding overfilling.
  • Gently fold the corners over the filling to form a bundle and pinch edges to seal.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, beat the egg for egg wash.
  • Brush the top of each bundle with the beaten egg.
  • Place the bundles on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Make ahead by freezing them. Store in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature.
