Ingredients

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ½ cup chopped pecans

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients, measuring out flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  • Cut butter into cubes and chill in the fridge.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Cutting in the Butter

  • Add cold butter to the dry mixture and cut in until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Combining Ingredients

  • Stir in dried cranberries and chopped pecans.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir gently until just combined.

Shaping and Baking

  • Turn dough onto a floured surface, press down to 1 inch thick, and cut into 8 wedges.
  • Place sliced scones on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes.
  • Let cool for a few minutes on a wire rack before serving.

Notes
