Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Icing

  • 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • green food coloring

Decorations

  • Sprinkles or edible decorations

Preparation

  • Gather and measure all ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
  • Cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture until a soft dough forms.
  • Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet, flattening each slightly.
  • Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes from the flattened balls.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Icing and Decorating

  • Prepare the icing by combining powdered sugar, milk, and green food coloring in a bowl until smooth.
  • Once the cookies are completely cool, decorate them with the green icing and add sprinkles or other edible decorations.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze cookies and thaw at room temperature before enjoying.
