  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup almond filling (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • to taste powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • to taste sliced almonds (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients including puff pastry, almond filling, egg, powdered sugar, and sliced almonds.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Cut the rolled-out pastry into a tree shape with a triangle for the body and smaller branches on either side.
  • Spread almond filling over one half of the tree shape, leaving a small border.
  • Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and seal the edges.
  • Make slits up the sides of the pastry, cutting only halfway to create branches.
  • Whisk the egg to create an egg wash and brush it evenly on the pastry.

Baking

  • Place the pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven, cool for a few minutes, and dust with powdered sugar and sliced almonds before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or refrigerate for longer storage. For freezing, wrap tightly before or after baking.
