  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Cold butter is essential for flaky texture.
  • ¾ cup milk Almond or oat milk can be used as alternatives.

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients and measure them out before starting.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/4 cup of sugar. Whisk until well mixed.
  • Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead a few times until it comes together.
  • Roll out the dough to about 1 inch thick and cut out biscuits using a cutter.
  • Place the cut biscuits onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1/4 cup sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle over the biscuits.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let the biscuits cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

These biscuits can be enjoyed with honey, jam, or fruit preserves. For a richer flavor, try browning the butter before adding it to the mixture.
