  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • powdered sugar optional, for dusting Enhances presentation.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking) Additional butter may be necessary for cooking.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients and preparing a clean workspace.
  • Trim the crusts from the bread slices to create a clean base for rolling.
  • Using a rolling pin, flatten each bread slice to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  • In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, and 3 teaspoons of cinnamon. Beat the mixture until smooth and creamy for the filling.

Assembly

  • Spread a generous layer of the cinnamon butter mixture evenly over each flattened bread slice.
  • Tightly roll up each slice, starting from one end and securing the seam with a dab of the cinnamon butter if necessary.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Add about 1 tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are coated.
  • Carefully place the roll-ups seam-side down in the pan, cooking 3-4 at a time. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Once golden, remove and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.

Serving

  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping options like maple syrup or fresh fruit.
