  • 3 packages Mrs. T’s Cheddar Pierogies (frozen) Keep frozen until ready to cook.
  • 1 lb kielbasa, sliced Use turkey or chicken kielbasa for a lighter option.
  • 3 cups chicken broth Additional broth helps with cooking.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese For the mixture.
  • 8 oz cream cheese block Soften before mixing.
  • 1 cup chicken broth (additional) For softening cream cheese.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping) Add at the end.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season to enhance flavor.

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all the ingredients and measuring them out. Ensure that the pierogies are still frozen.

Cooking the Base

  • In a 4-6 quart slow cooker, place the frozen pierogies, sliced kielbasa, 3 cups of chicken broth, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Stir to mix evenly and season with salt and pepper.

Setting the Cooking Time

  • Cover the slow cooker and set it to high for 3-4 hours or low for 6 hours.

Preparing Cream Cheese

  • About 30 minutes before cooking ends, soften the cream cheese with 1 cup of chicken broth in a microwave-safe bowl.

Combining Mixtures

  • Remove slow cooker lid and pour the softened cream cheese mixture inside, then stir to combine.

Final Cheese Layer

  • Sprinkle the last cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top, cover, and cook on low for an additional 30 minutes.

Serving

  • Check for bubbling and melted cheese before serving hot, garnished with freshly sliced green onions if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Freeze for longer storage.
