Ingredients
  

For the truffles

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz) Serves as the base, adding sweetness and richness.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use your favorite chocolate—dark, milk, or a blend.
  • 1 cup crushed nuts Choose from walnuts, almonds, or hazelnuts.
  • ½ cup cocoa powder For rolling the truffles.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor profile.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients together.
  • Measure out the chocolate chips, condensed milk, nuts, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract.

Cooking the Base

  • In a saucepan, heat the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, making sure it does not boil.

Mixing

  • Add the chocolate chips to the warm condensed milk mixture and stir until fully melted and smooth (about 2–3 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
  • Once cooled, mix in the crushed nuts and cocoa powder until well combined.

Chilling and Forming

  • Transfer the mixture to a bowl and chill in the refrigerator for about one hour.
  • Use your hands to form small balls about 1 inch in diameter.
  • If the mixture is too soft, return it to the fridge.

Coating and Final Chilling

  • Roll the formed truffles in cocoa powder to coat evenly.
  • Refrigerate the coated truffles for an additional 30–45 minutes to firm up.

Serving

  • Serve the truffles as is or package them as gifts.

Notes

Truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. For longer storage, you can freeze them for up to three months.
